2. QUOTE APPROVAL

Once all design, structural, and installation specifications have been approved by the customer, a QUOTE SIGNOFF will complete the quoting phase. Any changes made after the QUOTE SIGNOFF will be considered CHANGE ORDERS and may be subjected to additional costs and lead time delays.

SECTION 08 53 13 – uPVC European Tilt and Turn & Direct Set Windows

PART 1 – GENERAL

1.1 SECTION INCLUDES

  • Factory-assembled, fully welded uPVC/EU-style tilt and turn windows and direct set fixed windows
  • All required glass and glazing materials, perimeter sealing, internal reinforcement, hardware, accessories, and associated installation

1.2 RELATED SECTIONS

  • Division 03–07: Concrete/Masonry, Metal/Rough/Finish Carpentry, Siding, Sheet Metal Flashing and Trim

PART 2 – PRODUCTS

2.1 MANUFACTURERS

  • Basis of Design: Beacon Bay Windows & Doors, product: VantEdge uPVC European tilt and turn and direct set window series
  • No substitutions or other manufacturers permitted unless approved in writing by the architect or owner. Product must meet or exceed all specified requirements for material quality, construction, thermal and structural performance, hardware, IGU options, finishes, and warranty terms.

2.2 MATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTION

  • Fully welded, multi-chamber uPVC frames and sashes (all types)
  • Lead-free, high-impact uPVC extrusions per AAMA 303
  • Factory-assembled units: IGUs, perimeter sealing, reinforcement
  • Colors: White, grey, brown, wood-look, metallic-finish laminates

2.3 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Meet AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/I.S.2/A440-08, grade as required
  • Air infiltration: ≤ 0.02 CFM/SF @ 6.24 PSF
  • Water penetration: No leakage @ 15 PSF min.
  • Structural load: Per project wind-exposure, DP-100 (CW-PG50+)
  • U-factor: ≤ 0.26 BTU/hr-ft²-°F double pane IGU; ≤ 0.15 BTU/hr-ft²-°F triple pane IGU
  • SHGC: ≤ 0.35
  • STC: ≥ 26
  • Impact/blast/glazed security as needed

2.4 HARDWARE AND OPERATION

  • Tilt and turn: Dual-action, multi-point locking, handles,, restrictors, ADA accessibility as applicable
  • Direct set: Non-operable fixed units, identical profiles/materials

2.5 GLAZING

  • IGU thickness: 7/8" dual pane IGU; 1-3/4" triple pane IGU
  • Glazing: Low-E, argon gas fill.
  • Laminated, privacy/solar/acoustic coatings as applicable

2.6 FINISHES

  • uPVC: Solid colors, metallics, woodgrain/foil laminates
  • Durable finish to manufacturer’s standards

PART 3 – EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

  • Verify openings, sealant compatibility, environmental conditions

3.2 PREPARATION

  • Clean and prep surfaces per manufacturer recommendation

3.3 INSTALLATION

  • Install per manufacturer instructions and ASTM E2112
  • Seal/flash all joints as specified
  • Final adjustment/weather seal verification

3.4 CLEANING AND PROTECTION

  • Clean inside/out; remove films/debris, protect installations until completion
